Frozen Strawberry Margarita
Frozen cocktails are a party favorite. You can make a single serving or multiply the recipe to serve as many people as you like.
Oh, summer. Ripe fruit, sunshine and ice cold, frosty drinks. I love summer. Remind me of that when I start complaining about the heat, though.
This frozen cocktail is is surprisingly easy to make. It’s fruity and boozy, everything you want a frozen drink to be. The key is to use a good tequila so the flavor is just right.
For some reason, I rarely take the time to make frozen drinks. In my mind, it just takes too long and by the time the kids are in bed and I’m ready to treat myself to a little something, I just want whatever is fastest. When I do decide to make an extra special adult beverage, I’m reminded of just how fast and easy it actually is.

Supplies
For this frozen strawberry margarita, you’ll need a good blender. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of my Vitamix. It’s a commercial grade blender that can seriously do just about anything. It blends up a few strawberries and ice cubes in about 3 seconds flat.
With this blender, I have to be careful not to overdo it. Did you know a Vitamix is so powerful that it actually generates enough heat to make hot soup? It does! I’ve done it before and there’s some yummy recipes out there. I’ll put that on my list of things to do for the blog.
Ingredients
Strawberries
I used fresh strawberries in this recipe because I had some really ripe ones. You can absolutely use frozen ones if you can’t find good fresh ones, but you’ll want to let them thaw a bit first. There isn’t much liquid in this recipe so it will be pretty tough to blend frozen strawberries and ice all at the same time.
Tequila
I have a lot to say about tequila. It’s one of my favorites. See my Best Traditional Margarita for more on that.
Tips for Making a Frozen Strawberry Margarita
This is a pretty easy drink to make. The only thing I want to mention is to make sure you layer everything in the blender in the right order. Liquids always go first, then soft things like the fresh strawberries. Lastly, you can top with ice or frozen fruit. This ensures that the blender can swirl the ingredients around to blend them up.

- 1 ounce lime juice - about one whole lime
- 2 tbsp agave syrup
- 2 cups ice cubes

- Take the open end of a lime half and run it along the rim of your glass.
- Dip the glass in the sugar, coating the edge evenly all the way around.
- Juice the lime and measure the rest of the ingredients. Add them to the blender.
- Blend on high for about 5-10 seconds, just until the ice is fully blended in and there are no large pieces. Watch closely, this will just depend on the size of your ice cubes and the power of your blender.
- Pour into your glass, garnish with lime slice and a strawberry and serve immediately.

Oh, typos. 🤦🏼♀️ I have no idea why it says 6. It’s supposed to be 1 ounce. I fixed it. Thanks!
